Incline Smith machine press

The incline smith machine press targets the upper chest, triceps, and front delts. It is mainly an upper chest movement, but if you use a full range of motion, your front delts can take over in the bottom position.

The smith machine provides a fixed movement pattern, which makes this exercise very stable and easy to perform.

The fatigue is not as high as with an incline dumbbell press or incline barbell press, because it is more stable. Although it is not as high, you will still experience fatigue if you perform it with the proper intensity.

The incline smith machine press is a great alternative to the incline barbell press with added stability and excellent for hypertrophy. We recommend the regular barbell incline press or bench press if you are solely looking to build strength.

This exercise is available in many gyms but can be hard to find if you don't have access to a gym.

Facts:

  • Lengthened position
  • Hard at the bottom
  • Grip width is optional
  • Does not converge

Alternatives:

  • Incline barbell press
  • Incline dumbbell press

Both these exercises are a bit harder to perform, less stable, and more fatiguing, but more accessible.
